TUCSON, AZ – On May 2nd The Chamber of Southern Arizona officially launched at its Kickoff Luncheon, attended by nearly 700 community leaders.
In December 2024, Sun Corridor Inc. and the Tucson Metro Chamber agreed to come together with a unified business voice, strategy, and resources to address Southern Arizona’s biggest economic development challenges and bolster the region’s competitiveness.
The Chamber of Southern Arizona’s mission is to drive economic growth and prosperity through job creation in the region by uniting business advocacy and development efforts, fostering an environment where businesses thrive, and promoting Tucson and Southern Arizona as a vibrant economic hub on both domestic and international stages. Functions include business attraction, retention and expansion; talent attraction; competitiveness; advocacy/public policy; emerging leaders; and small business support.
“I am honored to serve as the first chair of The Chamber of Southern Arizona, and so excited about the future of this region. Our move to form this new chamber solidifies Tucson and Southern Arizona as a region exploring new ways of leading – bringing together large, diverse groups that develop bold, creative solutions to regional issues,” said Susan Gray, chair, The Chamber of Southern Arizona and president & CEO, Tucson Electric Power.
“Although Southern Arizona has experienced growth over the past 20 years, the last several years have caused fundamental shifts in the economy that impact not only what we compete for but also how we compete. The drivers of the future economy will be shaped by complex challenges around labor, technological advancements and politics,” said Joe Snell, president & CEO, The Chamber of Southern Arizona. “We firmly believe that coming together and getting on the same page to solve these complex, regional issues is the wave of the future. Simply put, a fist is stronger than five fingers alone.”
